First Home Owner Schemes

First Home Owner Grant and First Home Owner Boost
Under the First Home Owner Grant (FHOG), the Territory Government provides a $7000 grant to eligible persons purchasing or building their first home in Australia.

Under the First Home Owner Boost (FHOB), the Australian Government provides an additional grant purchasing or building a home. The scheme applies to contracts to purchase or build a home executed between 14 October 2008 and 31 December 2009 inclusive and to owner-builders who commence construction of a home in this period.

The amount of FHOB depends on whether it is a new home or an established home and the date the purchase or building contract was entered into, or for owner builders, the date construction commenced.

Find out further details on FHOG and FHOB schemes (including the amount of the FHOB).

There are a number of home owner assistance schemes funded by the Northern Territory and Australian Governments.

Stamp Duty First Home Owner Concession
The Territory Government provides a stamp duty concession to Territorians purchasing a home, or land to build a home, that is their first home in Australia. No stamp duty is paid on the first $385 000 of the purchase price of a property – a saving of up to $15 515.
